Company Profile Tennessee Valley Authority operates a public power system and supplies power in most of Tennessee, northern Alabama, northeastern Mississippi, and southwestern Kentucky and in portions of northern Georgia, western North Carolina, and southwestern Virginia. Co. manages the Tennessee River, its tributaries, and certain shorelines, among other things, navigation and electricity. Co. also manages the river system to provide recreational businesses, water supply, improved water quality, natural resource protection, and economic development. Co. is primarily a wholesaler of power, selling power to local power company customers which then resell power to their customers at retail rates.
